Technology for the Third World is a charitable organistion with the aim of making technology available to the people of the third world or developing countries.
There are a lot of talented and clever people in the developing countries, especially the youth but due to poverty and lack of resources, most of them are not able to realise their full potential. The result of this is that, most of these people become a liability and a drain on the economy instead of an asset to the country or society.
Our aim is to work with like minded people to help some of these unemployed people to realise their potential and better their lives so that they can contribute to the success and improvement of their communities in particular and their countries in general.
We intend to help the people in the developing countries to acquire relevant knowledge and skills so that they can take care of themselves and their immediate families through working as self employed and possibly employing other people to work for them as their businesses grow or expand.
According to Population Reference Bureau;
"The great bulk of today's 1.2 billion youth, nearly 90 percent are in developing countries. Eight in ten of those youth live in Africa and Asia. During the next few decades, these young people will most likely continue the current trend of moving from rural areas to cities in search of education and training opportunities, gainful employment, and adequate health care. One of the major social questions of the next few decades is whether their expectations will be met."
We need to start training these youth to acquire skills that are relevant now and in the future so that they can also train others to reduce the rural - urban migration which is the cause of most of the problems in the developing countries.
